(The combinations that work really well using the mica caps don't seem to translate over to ceramic caps!) I don't know if this is a tip but here's my basic rule of thumb and of course it depends on what someone is looking for... 33K / 470pF or 500pF 39K / 470pF (mostly for JCM800's) Plexi = 47K / 300pF to 330pF 470pF (for bass lovers) JCM800 = 47K / 250pF Plexi = 56K / 220pF I normally don't go with a 56K in JCM800's because it get's muddy real in a hurry. I hear the JCM800's differently from the "plexis" but I may be the "odd man out" as they say. (ha, ha) Since the Master Volume is connected off from the treble pot in the 800's the lowend and midrange are effected differently than in a plexi where the phase inverter tube is being driven into breaking up alos (You have to love that sound!! ha, ha) So anyways that's why I use different values on different models. I hope that made some sense to someone! (ha, ha) Ohhh..often times I try to make sure a Pes Paul sounds good through it as well as a Strat. Sometimes if a customer is a "strat only" guy then I set it up for that. Les Pauls in general sound pretty consistant where Strats can vary A LOT in how they sound. ~~~ Trace
