One suggestion that was made a while ago is to put a
cap in series with the pot so it doesn't have a scratchy
sound. A 1uF/100V should do fine. 

Although I have it on my amp, I found that 2 settings
would probably be good enough for me. If you use lots
of different cabinets, then maybe a variable pot would
be more useful.
