SF Princeton Reverb Question You must have a 70s model. I have a 69 and the lead dress isn't bad. First off, don't pretend to be Torres and hack the shit out of it. Those amps sound pretty good with minimal tweaking. For a speaker, check out a C10Q. For tubes, at a reasonable price, the new Russian 6V6EH is decent, if you want better, the NOS JAN Philips 6V6GT is great. I'm running a Sovtek 5AR4 rectifier, but the current production Chinese is plenty good enough for a Princeton. I wanted to be a cheapskate, so I used all Ei Yugoserb 12A?7 tubes in mine, and they sound great! There is one phase inverter headroom improvement mod (it's on Steve Aloha's web page) that works well and gives you 18 Watts output power and more symmetrical clipping. To reduce farting, drop the value of the coupling cap at the input of the PI to about 1/4 of the stock value. A replacement DR output transformer fits right in and would improve the low end a tad because of it's extra meat. If the lead dress is a mess, do clean it up. Put in a new can filter cap and bias filter while you're at it.
