I put quad 6V6 into a BF showman head and it really honks! I used 75 volt zener on the PT CT to drop the B+ to about 380V. I also converted it to cathode bias at about 14 watts dissipation. Since the PT has a separate bias tap, I want to try and convert back to fixed bias to see what it sounds like. I also want to get some Webers for it to see how they sound. As far as the load impedence goes, I wired 2 late '70's 8ohm EVM 12L's in series for 16 ohms and ran them off the stock 8 ohm speaker tap. This should double the load impedence on the primary side of the transformer to get a more 6V6 freindly impedence load. So my recommendation would be to find an old Fender 4x6L6 head or combo and convert it to 6V6. It'll get you that true BF "double deluxe" tone, for a lot less $$$ than a Carr or Vicky.
