I have a 1998 A/S Strat with SD hot live wire pups. Although I really dig the tone and output from the LW-HS1 set I always thought they had a little too much of a bright top end. I'm not real big on overly bright strats. I just installed a .0022 mf cap across the output jack of the strat and it made a huge difference. Held the tone and output of the guitar but rolled just enough of the top off to really make a noticeable and useable improvement. I was thinking, why not wire .0022 caps or whatever value works for your ears from the single coil hot lugs on the switch directly to ground on SSH guitars loaded with 500k pots. That way your bridge HB doesn't lose its top end off of 250k pots, and the singles can be top rolled if the 500ks make them too bright. You'd get a bit of top roll in the #4 position but I dont think it would be too great a loss. We keep having this topic come up, and this might be a cheap and effective way to find middle ground in the SSH 250/500k pot problem.
