For those who must have accurate intonation and the better sustain characteristics of the 3-saddle Tele bridge setup, check with SmartParts. They have a special set of intonated brass tele saddles for around $35. Vintique has better ones for more money. - Lindy Fralin is the Tele pickup king. His Weak-mag '52 Tele pickup is the closest I have heard to a real '52. I use the 5% overwound version in my Fender Japanese RI Tele and have turned many friends on to them. They are vintage-fans and were blown away by these pu's. I am a big fan of the 52ri tele pickups. The nocaster pickups look very interesting. As I believe Mark Hammer has stated there is something about overwound tele bridge picks my fav is about 7.7k. I have a few and the measure from about 7.2k to 7.7k the higher r seems to sound nicer. Now you can get the Nocaster bridge pickup, the one that's in the custom shop relic. According to the spec's listed in the newest Frontline catalog, it has the same alnico 3 magnets as the '52, but the wind is a little hotter, but not as hot as the Texas Special. I haven't tried one of these Nocaster pickups in a tele yet, but my guess is that it's probably the ideal thing. (Those Relics do sound wonderful.) It should have more output than the standard vintage pickup, but not as much as the TS, and it should retain more of the vintage brightness that the TS tends to hide. Angela Instruments lists them on their website, so I'm assuming they have a few in stock. Rumor has it (from the Fender Forum BBS) that Fender will be offering the Nocaster neck pickup soon. '52 Vintage 7.2k, 3.27H, 42 guage wire? Tex Special 10.5k, 3.95H, 43 guage wire Nocaster 9.9k, 4.9H, (?)guage wire, probably 42. Just my .02, the Texas special neck is my fave neck pickup. Good "hollow honk" sound. Cuts through with soul, not muddy. Texas special bridge is a bit steely and harsh. The '52 reissue is fat and warmer. The noiseless are flat sounding to me.
